Kiki Merchant is a young, aspiring basketball player at the University of Houston with dreams as high as the hoop she practiced on every day. At 4 years old, she stood tall with determination that set her apart from her peers. Every evening after school, she would lace up her sneakers and head to the local court with her father and brother, perfecting her three-point shot and working on her speed. With posters of her favorite WNBA players covering her room, she envisions herself one day wearing a jersey with her name on it, competing on the grand stage. Her coaches admire her relentless work ethic and her teammates looked to her as an example of passion and grit.
